Modernization Projects Survey Evaluation - Based on 2007 and 2008 Surveys

In scope of the EU project MOMOCS we performed two surveys regarding modernization projects. The first was done in September 2007 and the second about one year later in October 2008.

The goal was to get a feeling of the needs of the modernization market and its situation in respect of standards, tools and methodologies. With the second survey we additionally wanted to see if there might be a change or trend one could encounter.

This report gives an overview of both surveys and highlights their outcome.

Consumer Behaviour

Currently we focus on the analysis of consumer behaviour.

The following paper is under review, right now: "Reputation, framing strategies and user choice of content onthe Web: an Empirical Study". The work is part of a cooperation with Ioanna Constantiou, Copenhagen Business School.

Abstract:
Motivated by the current trends on the Internet, displaying increasing supply of contentfrom anonymous users (e.g. blogs) which become popular among the users, the presentstudy explores the tradeoffs between the source’s reputation and the way content isdisplayed or offered in the Web page based on the framing strategy used. This paper presents the results of a study exploring the Internet user choice ofinformation services in the form of online news. The study builds upon behaviouraleconomics and it focuses on the interaction between background and local context effectsin the individual choice. In particular, the study investigates the tradeoffs between thereputations of the source, representing the background context effects, and the provision of enriched content (e.g. source bundled with a picture or a video), representing local context effects. The study involved a set of online experiments of hypothetical choices or matching tasks. The main findings indicate that there is a significant interaction between reputation and enriched content in the form of content related picture, video and recommendations by other users, in the user choice of the online information service.
