Databases and Information Systems

The work at the group of Databases and Information Systems headed by Professor Zicari surrounds two major aspects, Teaching and Research. Both these activities pertain to fields of database and information systems with its broad spectrum of applications specific to Internet and e-commerce.

The research team at DBIS is involved in various projects amongst which

  • Dynamic Profiling of Web visitors
  • Clustering of Web portal subscribers based on behavior
  • Customer relationships support for Web portals visitors
  • Web 2.0 (tags, mashups)
  • Developing new business models for e-commerce and e-business
  • Analyzing Business Models for Open Source Software Companies

are in the foreground.

The team has recently attained considerable work in the field of dynamic profiling. Their achievements have been promoted through published papers and conference participations. The DBIS group has been a regular participant at Cebit, the world’s largest IT trade fair in Hannover.
